Welcome to my Letterboxing Blog! This is an extension of my new blog, Always Casual Friday, specifically focused on my Letterbox journey. I keep a hard-copy logbook with me whenever I letterbox, but I thought it would be fun to record it all virtually as well in order to keep people informed more efficiently. To start off, for those of you who do not know what letterboxing is, here is a little information:
The best way to describe letterboxing (in my opinion), is as a world-wide scavenger hunt for hand-carved rubber stamps. If you have heard of geocaching, it is very similar, only rather than looking for whatever trinkets are hidden within the geocache, you're looking for stamps that people have carved. If you visit Atlas Quest you can find a lot more information, including a detailed history and numerous how-to tutorials about letterboxing.
Once you understand the basic principles of letterboxing, Atlas Quest is also a very useful search tool when looking for letterboxes. The search tool within their site allows users to search via location, routes, nearby letterboxes, etc. in order to find boxes that you may potentially want to search for.
I have only been letterboxing for a short time, but I already enjoy it immensely, and consider if one of my favorite hobbies. I will be posting several Letterbox stories immediately following this post, in order to keep this blog up-to-date with my logbook, and each of these posts will be titles with the date that I found that specific letterbox (to avoid confusion!)
I hope that you enjoy following along with me on my letterboxing journey, and I hope that you all give it a try as well!
